The Maldives · Luxury family resorts
Island villas, lagoon slides, room to roam.

In the Maldives the villa is the whole trip. A family wants two bedrooms over the lagoon or a house on the sand, not two rooms down a walkway.
After that, look for something built for children on the island itself, and a short seaplane or boat ride from Malé. These three do both.

Book a two-bedroom Water Reserve, one of the largest overwater villas in the world, with a slide from the deck into the lagoon; island villas run up to a seven-bedroom residence. The Den is one of South Asia’s largest children’s playgrounds, the island is cycled rather than driven, and there is an ice-cream parlour, an observatory and an outdoor cinema.

Island and Water Villas come in one and two bedrooms, and the four-bedroom Cheval Blanc Randheli Private Island takes a whole family on its own. The resort runs a children’s programme, and the Alchemist team sets up sandbank barbecues and yacht drop-offs for beach treasure hunts.

Ask for one of the 90 detached beach villas, each opening onto its own stretch of sand behind its own greenery. The island has 12 white-sand beaches and six kilometres of shoreline, 45 minutes from Malé by the resort yacht or 15 by private seaplane.

Overwater or on the sand, one villa or a private island: it depends on the ages and the group. Send us your dates and who’s coming, and we’ll match the villa.
