Caribbean & Mexico · New Year’s week
Dec 26 to Jan 2. Our pick for each place.

New Year’s week runs December 26, 2026 to January 2, 2027, inside the dry season across the Caribbean and Mexico. Families often book from before Christmas through the first days of January and settle in.
Below is the hotel we would book in each destination for a family or three generations, with the room that works: residences, villas and beach suites first, then a sanctuary for a couple in the group.

The Estate wing has residences from junior suites to four bedrooms, including beach-level residences with their own pools, on 11 acres of Grace Bay. KidsTown is complimentary and the airport is a 15-minute drive.

Fifteen villas of two to six bedrooms, the six-bedroom beachfront Founders Villa and the Mayakoba Two-Bedroom Suite, every suite with an oversized terrace and 24-hour butler service. About 25 miles from Cancún airport, with El Camaleón golf on the property.

The 1956 estate above one of the few genuinely swimmable coves on the Los Cabos corridor, with Jack Nicklaus golf next door. Families take the Casita Suites and Villas; every booking carries a $150 resort credit and full breakfast for two per bedroom.

Beach Rooms and the Heavenly Beach House on the sand of Baie de Saint-Jean, Villas Nina, Rockstar and Frangipani for a family wanting its own house, and more than 220 villas across the island through Eden Rock Villa Rental. Private airport transfers both ways are included.

The 1960s estate that made Paradise Island famous: five miles of beach, terraced Versailles-style gardens and Four Seasons service on its own gated grounds. Atlantis and its waterpark are minutes away for the grandchildren, and invisible when you want quiet.

Belmond’s Moorish-white villas curve along Maundays Bay, a mile-long sheltered crescent with some of Anguilla’s calmest, clearest swimming directly in front. Breakfast for two per bedroom and a Food & Beverage credit come with the booking.

For a couple in the group: open-walled sanctuaries above the 600-acre Anse Chastanet estate, 24 of them with private infinity pools reached by individual bridges. Moon, Sun and Galaxy Sanctuaries carry a larger credit, more again on stays of six nights or more, and the resort has its own heli-pad.
